I want to join
THE NIR SCHOOL OF THE HEART
Academic program

In the academic program we teach the students how to be better scientists and doctors.
Initially we devote time to teach logic, so they’ll avoid logical fallacies; and to teach basic scientific principles so they’ll benefit from a strong foundation in their later studies. Then, we teach about the systems of the body, gradually focusing on the cardiovascular system, wherein we teach how it works, in the first meeting, how it fails, in the second meeting, how it can be fixed, in the third, and how these CV problems can be somewhat delayed, or sometimes even avoided, with lifestyle changes, in the fourth.

The program consists of four meetings along two years two meetings of about a week during the summer school vacation and two long weekends during winter.  The meetings take place in different places within the region.
There are two parts in the NIR School program the academic and the social:

In the Academic Program, you will learn about the human body and the heart, visit laboratories and hospitals and witness cardiology procedures.  You will be taught by leading cardiologists from around the world.  Upon completion of the program the students' achievements are accredited with an official diploma jointly issued by the NIR School and the Harvard-MIT Biomedical Engineering Center.

In the Social Program, you will have the opportunity to get to know your peers from neighboring countries and learn about their beliefs, traditions, fears and hopes.  We conduct discussions, workshops, go on trips and, of course, also have fun activities.

Admission Process: Students are chosen based on their interest in science, their level of involvement in their home communities, their inter-personal skills and their command of the English language.
After reviewing all application forms, we invite a select number of candidates to a personal interview and an academic exam.  Shortly thereafter, we will inform you whether you have been accepted to the program.  If so, you and your parents will be invited to an information meeting in your country.

Costs: Students who are accepted to the NIR School are supported by a fellowship, which covers the tuition, accommodations, meals and travel expenses for the four meetings.  A symbolic admision fee of 200$ will be required from each applicant.
